KUALA LUMPUR: After 150 days, the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) vaccination centre (PPV) has inoculated its last Covid-19 vaccine recipient.

Since opening its doors to the first batch of opt-in AstraZeneca vaccine recipients on May 5, the vaccination centre (PPV) had seen nearly 1.3 million doses being administered to 645,000 people, making it the PPV with the most number of shots given in the country.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, after officially closing the WTCKL PPV, said there was no longer a need for mega-PPVs as most areas had achieved a satisfactory vaccination rate.

“We no longer need big PPVs as it will also involve cost and others.

“When we are satisfied with the vaccine coverage at an area, then we will start closing down PPVs in stages,” he said tonight.

He added that he would be meeting with Health Ministry and Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry officials to discuss the PPVs that should remain open to inoculate those who have missed out on their appointments or foreigners.

PERDANA Menteri, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob menyaksikan suntikan vaksin COVID-19 AstraZeneca dos ke sejuta di Pusat Pemberian Vaksin (PPV) Mega Pusat Dagangan Dunia Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).

Penerima dos vaksin AstraZeneca ke sejuta itu ialah Zamratul Azmi Sarmadi, 38.

Suntikan itu dilakukan oleh Timbalan Ketua Pengarah Kesihatan (Penyelidikan dan Sokongan Teknikal), Datuk Dr Hishamshah Mohd Ibrahim.

Ismail Sabri dalam sidang akhbarnya kemudian mengucapkan tahniah kepada semua pihak di atas kejayaan ini yang membolehkan PPV WTCKL memberikan dos ke sejuta hari ini.

“PPV WTCKL mula beroperasi sejak 5 Mei lalu dan di sini vaksin yang diberikan ialah AstraZeneca,” katanya.

Sementara itu, Pasukan Petugas Khas Imunisasi COVID-19 Kebangsaan (CITF) dalam satu kenyataan memaklumkan, suntikan ke satu juta itu merupakan sejarah tersendiri buat PPV WTCKL sejak mula beroperasi pada 5 Mei 2021 di bawah Program Imunisasi COVID-19 Kebangsaan (PICK).

Ujar CITF, ini menjadikan PPV tersebut sebagai PPV pertama di Malaysia yang mengendalikan pemberian vaksin mencecah satu juta dos, sekaligus menyumbang kepada usaha pemulihan negara untuk mencapai perlindungan yang dikehendaki buat semua dan membawa Malaysia keluar daripada cengkaman pandemik COVID-19 demi kesejahteraan dan keselamatan rakyat.

“Dibuka khas untuk pengendalian vaksin AstraZeneca, PPV WTCKL merupakan PPV Mega pertama yang diwujudkan dengan kapasiti awal sebanyak 8,000 dos sehari sebelum ditingkatkan kepada 18,000 dos suntikan pada 19 Julai 2021.

“PPV WTCKL beroperasi setiap hari termasuk cuti umum seawal jam 8.30 pagi sehingga 9 malam. Sehingga semalam sebanyak sejumlah 997,291 dos vaksin telah diberikan yang terdiri daripada 645,011 dos satu dan 352,280 dos dua,” kata CITF.

Menurut pasukan petugas itu, pencapaian penting PPV WTCKL ini merupakan hasil usaha sama jalinan yang baik antara agensi awam dan swasta di mana pengendalian operasinya melibatkan anggaran sebanyak 360 petugas kesihatan dan bukan kesihatan pada setiap hari.

Kata CITF, PPV tersebut diketuai oleh Pegawai Perubatan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) dan dibantu oleh 13 penyelaras dan 14 petugas yang terdiri daripada penjawat awam daripada pelbagai kementerian.

Sementara itu, ProtectHealth Corporation bertindak sebagai pelaksana bagi penglibatan pengamal perubatan swasta yang dikenali sebagai Health Care Organizer (HCO).
